1. How much time is it required for full adaptation to the contact lenses?
Answer: Some users adapt themselves immediately and do not present any problem with the adaptation. But specialists consider ten days as the normal period for full adaptation. The user should be closely followed by an ophthalmologist.
2. Can the contact lenses move to the back of my eyes?
Answer: Under no circumstances. The eyes are covered by the conjunctiva, which makes it impossible the lens moving to the back of the eye.
3. What types of lenses are available in the market?
Answer: There are three families of lenses: Soft contact lenses of annual exchange, disposable soft contact lenses of monthly, biweekly, weekly or daily exchange, and the rigid contact lenses
of annual exchange. Each one of them presents advantages and disadvantages. And you should evaluate together with your ophthalmologist the Best option for your requirements.
4. What are the main differences among the three types of lenses?
Answer: Besides meeting all the correction needs, in general the rigid lenses have a better optical quality, and if compared to the others the maintenance is simpler and economical. Durability is another characteristic, which can be used up to one year. However, it requires more ability from the user and it is not recommended to sleep with it. Built with soft material, the disposable soft lenses are considered more comfortable and practical when compared to rigid lenses. In general, the user is easily adapted to this product. However, the cost of maintenance is slightly higher, as the product exchange system is smaller (30 days maximum). Yet the soft lenses of annual exchange meet almost all the eye correction needs, without graduation limits. Depending on the composition, it is possible to sleep with some of them. 5. Why does my ophthalmologist ask me to return periodically, even after the adaptation?
Answer: For constant guidance and periodic tests accomplishment, extremely important for the eye health.
6. Can I use contact lenses in sport activities?
Answer: Yes. In fact, lenses have a great advantage over glasses, because they minimize image distortions and offer a complete vision, focal and peripheral, much closer than the natural vision. They also allow the use with sunglasses. But for swimming it is recommendable the use of special glasses to avoid the loss of lenses.
7. How often should I change my lenses?
Answer: The doctor will recommend the ideal time to your case. But basically, disposable lenses have terms ranging from 7 to 30 days, and the rigid and soft should be changed every year.
8. Which eye correction needs are solved with contact lenses?
Answer: Currently the contact lenses attend practically all the needs, such as: myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism, keratoconus and other eye diseases.
9. Do the people with lenses feel discomfort or pain during the use?
Answer: If the lens is well suited to the user, there will be no discomfort or pain. During the ten days adaptation, it is normal to feel some discomfort. But if it lasts longer, take the lenses off and see the doctor, since there may be a problem.
10. I have a perfect view. Even so do I really need to visit an ophthalmologist, in case I want to use colored lenses with no graduation?
Answer: Yes, contact lenses can be marketed only under prescription. Moreover, even having a perfect view and needing lenses without graduation, you have to check the eye measures (keratometry) for the adequate lenses prescription. The tear flow test is also essential to ensure the comfort and the eye health.
11. Is there any lens for aesthetic correction, caused by accident or diseases?
Answer: Yes, in order to present an extremely natural effect, there is the soft contact lens made based on the color of the healthy eye.
12. Who can use contact lenses?
Answer: In principle any person – child, teenager or adult. But the specialist should be consulted to check the best suitable lens type for each case.
13. At what age can I use contact lenses?

14. Can I use lenses with makeup?
Answer: Yes, but you have first to place the lenses and then proceed with the makeup, always taking care with the powder or spray products, to not cause irritation in case they touch the eyes.
15. Can contact lenses cause diseases?
Answer: No, but the fungi and bacteria present in poorly preserved lenses can. Therefore, it is very important for your eye that you clean and preserve the lenses. There won't be any risk if all the cleaning and preservation steps are correctly followed. And very important: never use any other people's lenses.
16. Can I go blind by wearing contact lenses?
Answer: Only in extreme cases of bad lens preservation and their lack of sterilization. The correct use and proper asepsis will avoid any risk. In case of any discomfort, take the lenses off and see your ophthalmologist.
